How I make Money From My YouTube Channel
In this report you are going to discover some more advanced tactics for driving new visitors to your videos on YouTube.com
In other reports in this series we covered how to use YouTube to drive FREE TARGETED TRAFFIC to your website. Today’s topic is more focused than that, as we’re now looking to get MORE VIEWS for our videos.
Now, just in case you don’t know, YouTube.com is essentially an online community website whose sole purpose is to allow members to share their videos with others. Oh, and it is also one of the ten most popular websites in the world, pulling in nearly 40 million unique US visitors per month.
So, it’s a massive resource, one that every serious online business person should be using to promote their products or services.
It is also remarkably simple to use to drive such traffic to your site.
But, like all things, it’s a question of doing it right. And, doing it right in terms of YouTube means creating and publishing videos that drive visitors to your sales pages or website.
You must use those videos to create awareness of your business, to build your ‘brand’ and ‘draw’ viewers to you, so ultimately generating and multiplying sales.
Choosing Your User Name: If you plan to promote your business using YouTube, then you need to open a free account. You must therefore choose a ‘user name’. The name of your business (or product) should be the user name that you use. This immediately helps to build name awareness for your business; it ‘brands’ you, and starts to create a connection between the videos that you publish and your business.
Becoming Popular: There are literally millions of videos submitted to YouTube every day. They will all be published, but 99.99% of them will never be viewed by anyone other than the person who made it. The subject matter of your video is not the important thing – what matters is that your video is exciting or interesting enough to make other people want to watch it. Only submit videos that others might genuinely be interested in. And not those that make your business look CHEAP or INCREDULOUS.
Get Yourself Seen: When you upload your first video to YouTube, you need to do everything you can to help people discover or find your movie.
To begin, first, create a ‘Title’, a ‘Description’, a list of ‘Tags’ (keywords) and select a ‘Category’ for your video before you upload it to the site.
These are all extremely important, but do not waste time trying to re-invent the wheel. Just remember that any of these can be ‘found’ by searches that others might do on the site, so do whatever you can to make your video ‘searcher friendly’
Study what search terms and phrases other super-popular YouTube videos are using, and see if you can replicate (but NOT copy) them.
- Try to use a title containing keywords that appear popular from other Titles that you see. Be as creative as you can to ‘bend’ the target keyword to fit your video.
Be creative with your description, make it keyword rich and do not be lazy when writing it. A longer description (perhaps about the length of a short article) allows you to include more key search terms!
Choose your keyword ‘Tags’ carefully – use two that are laser targeted, one that is a bit more general and one that can act as a potential catch-all ‘drift net’, based on a very popular search term.
Make sure that the category you use is as popular one as well!
Become A Commenter: Visit other people’s videos, and make comments on them. Mark the ones you really like as ‘Favorites’. Request that the people whose videos you are viewing should view yours, too. Also, remember that these comments will appear next to your user name, which is also your business name!
This is, in fact, a super-effective tactic for driving others to view your video, because whenever you add a comment or favorite a particular video, the publisher will get an email telling them! Some of these publishers will inevitably check you out, too.
Tell Others About It: Whilst you are trying to attract others to your videos by focusing on a good ‘Title’, accurate ‘Tags’ and so on, you should be pro-actively promoting it as well; going out and actually telling people that your video exists, that it is good and that they should watch it! There are several ways that you can do this:
- Sharing: It is possible to ‘Share’ your video from within the YouTube site. Click the “Share” button at the bottom of the video player. Enter the email address or YouTube usernames of the people to whom you want to send it, then hit ‘Send’.
Tell Your List: If you have a customer and/or a prospect list, tell them about it and ask them to visit. Suggest that, if they like it, they should leave a comment attached on the video, and perhaps on your blog pages as well.
Insert Links To Your Video On Your Other Sites: Place links on all of your other sites, especially your blogs, that point straight to your video.
Basically, once your video is published on YouTube, your job is to get as many people as you can to watch it. In this way, you will make them more familiar and comfortable with you and your business, and thereby increase your sales and profits. Remember that we all buy from people we “like, know and trust”. This is one more way to help you accomplish this.
So, if you are not using YouTube yet, now is the time to start!
